The Golden Path

As a solo 3D game developer working on my game Goldaniatech, I’m always trying to future-proof my codebase and my game’s architecture, even though I will only use Unreal Engine 6 for a future title.

From my experience, whether it’s a 3D game, a website, or any other product, thinking far ahead about how to properly structure a project is essential for dramatically reducing maintenance costs (which means saving time, money, or both 😅).

Obviously, even after the State of Unreal 2026, information about Unreal Engine 6 remains very limited, as the engine is still under heavy development by Epic Games. Still, there is enough info out there to get a clearer picture of where things are headed!

I’ll break down a few key points, explain how I see Unreal’s future, and share how I’m preparing for it 😎.

Also, AI seems to be a pretty big thing for Epic Games, but as I’m making my game entirely from scratch, I can only share my opinion on it, while keeping a pragmatic vision (instead of the emotional turmoil we see on social media 😂).

What I know so far

If I had to sum up what I know about Unreal Engine 6, it boils down to 3 key points to remember:
